Help Name a Park After Diane di Prima

Women of the Beat Generation are hardly known. Let’s change that by reviving the initiative to name a San Francisco park after the revolutionary Beat poet Diane di Prima, arguably one of the most profound contributors to Beat sensibilities.

Please sign the petition (linked below) to help prove Diane di Prima deserves to have this park near where she lived for so long named after her. The details are in the petition. Please read it at the very least to learn more about Diane.

Please keep the conversation going by sharing this blog, the petition link, or just talking about the project with friends. Anything to keep momentum alive will help.

Diane di Prima declared her life as a poet at age 12 and wrote until the last week of her life at age 86. She rejected the status quo, challenged gender norms, and refused to be excluded by the male-dominated Beat Generation publishing scene by releasing many of her own works. She deserves far more acclaim than what has been given to her. She too drove the nonconformity that is associated with the Beat Generation, which contributed to social change as we know it today. Let us remember Diane as an originator, an innovator, and a lifelong subversive poet.
